lip blushing
What is Lip Blushing?
Lip blush tattooing is a technique in which pigment is inserted into the superficial skin of the lips using a handheld machine. This method is soft with no harsh outlines. Your lips will have a more defined & perfected shape and a natural color shading the entire lip and leaving a subtle "blushing" effect.
Does Lip Blushing hurt?
A topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure that you remain comfortable during the procedure.
How long does Lip Blushing last?
The results of Lip Blushing will vary by individual and can last from approximately 1.5 to 3 years. Various factors can determine how well the pigment will retain, including skin type, aftercare, skin care regimen (and/or use of exfoliating products, acids, etc.), sun exposure and medical history.
*The final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. You may book a touch up session 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment to perfect any desired areas.
How is Lip Blushing maintained?
For best results, a perfecting session is strongly recommended 4-6 weeks following the initial procedure to ensure good color saturation and fine tune the final shape and color.
Touch-up appointments are recommended annually to maintain color and shape.
What should I expect during the Lip Blushing procedure?
On the day of your procedure, your initial appointment will typically last three hours & follow the below:
Consult: (5 mins)
Open dialogue between you & your artist to obtain information about your desired result including color & shape of your lips. You may ask any questions you may have and address any concerns.
Lip Mapping: (30 mins)
Your artist will measure and begin drawing an outline, or "map" of your desired shape with wax pencil & gel pen. The client will be able to see and approve the shape before the procedure begins.
Color Swatch: (5 mins)
Your color will be mixed by your artist.
Numbing Cream Application: (20 mins)
Numbing cream will be applied to the brow area and covered with plastic wrap in order to prep the area for a comfortable and painless experience.
Lip Blushing Procedure: (1-2 hours)
Your artist will begin creating your lip blush by handheld tattoo machine.
aftercare healing
&
Each client will be given a detailed explanation of all pre and post care instructions. Please be aware:
-
No rubbing, scratching and/or picking at the lip area.
-
Avoid applying make-up to the area for at least 1 week.
-
No sun or artificial tanning until lips have healed (approximately 1 week).
-
Be sure to wear SPF 50 on your healed lips to prevent premature fading.
-
Avoid steamy showers, steam rooms and saunas for at least 10 days.
-
Avoid any activities which may cause bacteria to enter the healing area.
-
Do not use exfoliating or acidic products on the lips (Retin-A, Glycolic or Hyaluronic acid, etc.)
The healing time is approximately 5 to 7 days. During this time you should keep your lips clean and moist, applying a generous amount of Aquaphor frequently each day to ensure lips are not dry.
During the first 48 hours your lip color may seem more intense, however this will subside as healing occurs.
Any swelling from procedure will subside within 24 to 48 hours. You may sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights to reduce swelling. You can take Ibuprofen or Tylenol and ice the area (20 minutes on, 20 minutes off) if needed.
FAQ's
If you have recently had lip fillers, (such as Juvederm, Restalyne, Voluma etc.) you MUST wait at least 1 month before having the Lip Blushing procedure.
If you’ve EVER had a cold sore (even just one!) on the outside of your mouth or on your lips you MUST take Valtrex at least 3 days prior, and 3 days after getting your lips tattooed. If you don’t, this procedure could likely trigger an outbreak that will effect healing. This lip tattoo does not give you cold sores if you do not have the virus, but any treatments to the lips of a person who has the virus can increase the risk of an outbreak.
If you have had any lip surgeries, be sure to consult with your physician about how long you should wait before having a permanent makeup procedure on your lips. If the lip surgery involves an incision (like a lip implant), the incision needs to heal about 6 months prior to tattooing on top of it.
You should avoid eating spicy foods for at least 48 hours following your procedure.
You should use a straw when drinking any liquids during the healing process.
Once healed you may still wear different colored lipsticks if you desire, as this procedure will leave a subtle natural tint.
We can not guarantee the results for corrective/cover-up work. If the previous tattoo is too dark, large or discolored, tattoo removal is recommended before booking an appointment for a new cosmetic tattoo in order to achieve the best results
